Some might say I’m a little late posting this, but I didn’t know the video and good songs don’t get old so quickly.

Spooky Action at a Distance

A lot of Lockett Pundt’s (a guitarist from Deerhunter) new album reminds me of his songs on Halcyon Digest mixed with Real Estate’s Days. It’s less hazy and ambient than his first album but you can tell it’s coming from the same guy. I’m really looking forward to seeing him next month and am wondering if he will continue to have more influence on the next Deerhunter album. I think I like this album more than Parallax, but it’s probably unfair to judge Deerhunter’s future based on where Lockett and Bradford were when they recorded these two solo albums.

I’m giving you a night call to tell you how I feel
I want to drive you through the night and down the hills
I can tell you something you don’t want to hear
I will show you where it’s done, but have no fear

There’s something inside you
It’s hard to explain
They’re talking about you, boy
But you’re still the same

Last Great Book I Read

These questions are difficult because they’re part and parcel with a situation that would define us as a list of cultural commodities we’ve consumed. This is a very banal idea. Facebook doesn’t seem to have our genetic code on it— it has the list of books we “like.” That’s how we define ourselves today. I’m sorry, I don’t mean to sound like a douchebag making an obvious point. One can’t help but sound like a douchebag when talking about the books you like.

I found two very nice videos for two very nice Thom Yorke remixes by The Field and Four Tet, respectively.

For your optimal viewing comfort, fix on the middle of the screen for the next 8 minutes (embedded video). Also, try full screen for both.

The Internet might be useful for creating revolution, but all it’s creating in the Western world is more passivity, more disconnection. It’s a fucking nightmare. When I was 20 years old in New York City, do you think you walked into a coffee shop and saw 40 people staring at $2,000 purchases all made from the same company?
